Privacy policy
In plain language: we collect your email address so we can send you the brief. We never sell it, and you can leave in one click.

Firm Owner Brief is a free weekly email newsletter published by Chandler Media (“we”, “us”). This page explains what we collect when you subscribe and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Your email address. It’s the only thing we ask for when you subscribe. If we later add an optional field, such as your role at a firm, we’ll update this page, and the field will be clearly optional.
- Standard email engagement data. Like most newsletters, our emails are sent through Kit, which records whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, using a small tracking image and tracked links. Kit may also log basic technical details that come with those events, such as IP address, device or browser type, and the time of the open or click. We use this only in aggregate, for example to see which topics readers find useful and to keep our list healthy.
- Anything you send us. If you reply to an email or write to us, we’ll see what you wrote and your email address. We won’t publish your message or your name without asking you first.
We don’t collect payment information for the free newsletter.
How we use it
- To send you Firm Owner Brief (weekly, Thursday mornings Eastern) and occasional emails about it, such as a welcome email or an important change.
- To understand what’s working, using aggregate open and click data.
- To answer you if you write to us.
Who processes it
We use Kit (Kit, Inc.) to store our subscriber list and send our emails. Kit processes subscriber data on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum. Kit’s own practices are described in its Privacy Policy.
What we never do
- We never sell your data. We don’t sell, rent or trade your email address or any information about you.
- We don’t share your email address with sponsors. Sponsors may appear in the newsletter, always labeled, but they never receive our subscriber list.
This website
This site doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and its fonts are served from our own host. When you use a sign-up form here, your email address is sent directly to Kit to create your subscription. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data, such as IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe anytime. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending you the newsletter.
- Ask us to delete your data. Email us and we’ll remove your address from our list and ask Kit to delete it, except where we must keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don’t email you again.
- Ask what we hold. Email us and we’ll tell you what we have.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you’re subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we may keep a minimal record (your address and the fact that you opted out) so we can honor that choice.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll mention it in the newsletter.
